Yesterday morning, I got up from a great night's sleep, in my amazing 20th floor room at the Omni Hotel! Seriously...could not have asked for a better place to stay!
Check out this picture I took from the view out my hotel room window! Beautiful, right?
I was picked up at 9:00 by a very, very old friend (we were little kids together) and her mom for breakfast at the "Broken Yolk" in the Gaslamp District of Downtown San Diego. It was yummy and it was so nice to be able to catch up with them both, share about my time this weekend in San Diego and even a little reminiscing about things from the past! Such a precious time we had! I was delighted!
Then I headed back to my hotel room to check out, left my bags at the front desk (because the hotel is so accommodating they allowed me to do that) and walked around the gaslamp district.
At 12:00 my old roommate (Heidi), her guy friend Steve and her two kids picked me up and we headed to Balboa Park to the Natural History Museum. WOW! That place is awesome! Her kids were so excited and "OVER THE TOP" stimulated by the exhibits and the amazing things they saw and interacted with. I can see how people can spend an entire day in these museums...but unfortunately, I had a plane to catch.
After a quick ride to the airport (thanks to a friendly...or not so friendly taxi driver), I checked in, got stopped through the security check point because I had packed a snow globe (for my oldest daughter) in my carry on and finally made it to my gate to wait for my first of three plane rides. My flight left San Diego at 5:40 pm and arrived in Denver around 8:00 pm ish. From there, I had to wait for my next flight (which was by no surprise...delayed) that left at 12:30 am. It landed in DC, because of the three hour time difference at 5:20 am this morning and my final plane left at 8:25am and landed in Hartford, CT at 9:30 am. NEEDLESS to say, thanks to the Dramamine I bought after the first sleepless plane ride...I got only a few hours of sleep in the past 24 hours.
I have to say "thank you" to my husband, who was such a trooper this weekend. Not only did he have some major work issues, but he managed to MANAGE the kids through it all. He's a great dad...and our kids are lucky to have him! I guess that means that I'm pretty lucky too, huh?
Since I have been home (literally three hours), I have unpacked my suitcase (cause my kids were dying to see what I brought home from Blogher), done a load of laundry, tidied up the rooms, vacuumed the floor, got the little guy down for a nap and got this blogspot post written! Phew...tonight we have football & cheer practice and I am going to be hitting the hay early tonight!
Long story short...I'm HOME!!
