Hurricane #Irene Update from Connecticut...

It's 7:50 am and I was pleasantly surprised, that when I woke up this morning, the power was still on (which meant I was able to quickly make a pot of coffee) and so far there is no extra water in our house.  YAY!

However, I am not sure that the worst of Huricane Irene has hit yet.  In fact, I know it hasn't!

I snapped a few pictures, so you can see what it looks like outside right now:

It's currently downpouring and the wind is whipping, but not as bad as I thought it would be.

But here's an update from NBC Connecticut on the storm coming:

[The 5 a.m. update from the National Hurricane Center shows Irene as Category 1 hurricane.  A hurricane warning  remains posted for the southern part of the state and a tropical storm warning for northern Connecticut. The storm is moving along the Jersey shore and is expected to move near New York City and move through near the Connecticut-New York border.

There is also a tornado watch for Fairfield, Middlesex, New Haven and New London counties until 11 a.m.

"From 2 a.m. to 2 p.m., it will be some of the worst weather you've ever experienced in your life," NBC Connecticut meteorologist Bob Maxon said.]

Thankfully, the kids slept good last night, we have no obligations today and I made a boatload of food yesterday to snack on today, should the power finally go out.

Thank you to everyone who has been praying.  Perhaps your prayers are what has kept us so safe and secure so far?  Keep them coming...
