I always get so sad to hear that someone else is getting divorced. It seems that Hollywood stars (mainly because their relationships are highly publicized) only stay married to a person for a few years, before finding an amicable reason to separate...leaving their kids with estranged parents and the parents free to move on in their next venture of their lives. Sadly, the next venture could have been with that person...if they FOUGHT for their marriage.
Don't get me wrong...I know that some marriages have truly GOOD CAUSE for divorce. Abuse, Betrayal, Addiction, Cheating, etc. But it seems that, as a society, we are accepting of "small matters" being reason for divorce. Am I wrong with that?
I've got news for you...MARRIAGE is not easy! It takes some work! Sometimes you have to FIGHT with all your might to rekindle or hold onto the feelings you had when you first got married. Sometimes those exact feelings never return, but the promise you made, before the Lord...you know, "In Sickness and Health" should be honored...and something that is held in a higher regard than it is nowadays.
What do you think? Are divorces much to common? Do people find silly reasons to divorce, just because they are not really to put in the effort to make it work? Do we have a false sense that we are entitled to have the perfect SPOUSE with no flaws that can make us blissfully happy for the rest of our lives, and if we don't, we can just walk away?
It's true, even in Hollywood (obviously) that most storybook romances don't always stay so flawless! Maybe Hollywood should show some "REAL LIFE" type movies that show that marriage isn't EASY, but worth the strife, hard work and fighting for! Maybe our society would change their casual view of DIVORCE if that was the case?
I believe in fighting for your marriage! Honoring your vows! Being in for the long haul and never GIVING UP!
I mean...after all...isn't there a reason you married that person to begin with?
