I was excited when a package came this week that had four new books for the kids & I to preview before they are released in October 2011!
The first one is called, “Jane & Mizmow” by Matthew S. Armstrong. Though this book has only a written few sentences all together…the story is adorable and heartwarming. “Jane loves to read books. Mizmow loves to eat them. Mizmow loves to climb trees. Jane would rather keep her feet on the ground. It’s not always easy being friends with a monster. But Jane’s best friend is Mizmow, and Mizmow’s best friend is Jane”. The illustrations in this book are imaginative and adorable.
The second one is called “Princess Super Kitty” by Antoinette Portis. This little book spoke to my very imaginative and creative 5 year old. “Maggie likes being a kitty. But sometimes that’s not enough. Sometimes a girl has to be SUPER.” One little girl transforms herself over and over in this inventive picture book from the bestselling author and illustrator of NOT A BOX, Antoinette Portis. Once again, Portis shows us that children make ordinary life fun using their imaginations.
The third one is called “IF YOU GIVE A DOG A DONUT” by Laura Numeroff and Illustrations by Felicia Bond. We are huge fans of the “If you give…books” and you will love this one too. “If you give a dog a donut, he’ll ask for some apple juice to go with it. When you give him the juice, he’ll drink it all up. Then, before you can say “WOOF”…Dog is off on a backyard adventure!” The exuberant dog who first appeared in, “IF YOU GIVE A PIG A PARTY” is now the star of his very own book. Written in the irrestistible “If You Give...” tradition, IF YOU GIVE A DOG A DONUT is another home run from the beloved team of Laura Numeroff and Felicia Bond.
The fourth one is called “The Wizard Mouse” by Dean Morrissey and my oldest son loved this one! “A field mouse’s place is in the field - or so say Rollie’s father, his grandfather, and everyone he has ever known. But Rollie wants something more. So one day, he sets off down the path toward the Kingdom of Muddmoor, not knowing what he’ll find. In the adventures that follow, Rollie encounters many strange and wonderful things, from a talking fish and floating cows to the official Wizard of Muddmoor. But it turns out that what the kingdom needs most may just be the skills of one small field mouse.” Dean Morrissey’s lush paintings and magical story brings Rollie to life as the tiny hero who, with a little courage, makes a huge difference.
I was not paid to feature this post! I was compensated only by the preview books we received to do this review/feature!
