So, tonight...I had the t.v. all to myself! Because this is a rarity, I decided to check out a show called, "Say Yes To The Dress". I'll admit that I have caught a few of these shows before, but this is a new one...in Atlanta, I think.
OH MY GOODNESS!
First off, I would never imagine, in a million years, paying that much for my wedding dress. Maybe because I was on a very, very strict & modest budget when I bought mine...or maybe because I can't imagine why you would spend that much for a dress you're only going to wear once. But some of these people pay tens of thousands of dollars for their special gowns. YIKES! Makes me worry about our financial situation when the girls get married!
Will their expectations be that high?
But the other thing that gets me going about the show is the families & friends of the brides. Talk about BRUTAL honesty. I really hope that, when my daughter's are shopping for a dress...they don't AVOID bringing mommy, cause they'll be afraid of what I say or how I'll react to how they look in the dresses they try on. I know that t.v. has a way of making people look worse than they are in real life, but HOLY MOLY! Way to make a bride (who has high hopes of finding the perfect dress) feel horrible, insecure about their body and ugly. WOW!
Since the wedding is suppose to be a positive occasion, I can only hope that when it comes time to finding a dress for my girl's wedding day...it will be nothing but POSITIVE! Smiles and giggles and a beautiful blushing bride who is excited and satisfied with the dress she'll be wearing on her special day!
Anyway...the show is funny, in it's own way. Funny enough that I kept watching in awe and disbelief in the way that some of these families acted, on camera, to the brides to be.
