We were so excited to take my sister in law and her kids to NYC to explore the BIG APPLE with us for the day.
There were a couple places I had never been yet...that I was dying to see and were able to to see them, in real life, yesterday! I was delighted...to say the least. Not only did we spend the entire day in one of my favorite US cities, but we spent it with family, which made it even that more fun & special.
We rode into Grand Central (on the train)...and headed out on our adventure
which began on the HOT AND HUMID subway. Yikes...I don't know how people do that everyday...especially on days like yesterday with extreme temperatures.
We arrived (a little overheated) near WALL STREET and made our way to the Ferry to head to the Statue Of Liberty and Ellis Island. That's right...I was going to get my chance to meet her...in all her glory..."THE STATUE OF LIBERTY"!
And we did! It was amazing! She's as beautiful as I thought she would be!
We walked by the construction going on near GROUND ZERO. Though there isn't much to see right now...it looks like it's going to be an amazing memorial when it's completed!
Then, after a wrong Subway ride, we made our way to Time Square, where we walked and enjoyed the sites and sounds.
My nephew got a shirt...
My niece got American Girl stuff...
And yes...we even saw MICKEY MOUSE in Time Square.
We walked to Central Park, but didn't make it much past the entrance...because we knew we had a long walk back to the train station to head home.After having an interesting dinner at TGIFridays, we boarded our train and made our way home. Our train broke down (thankfully only for a few minutes) and we arrived home with tired legs, tired kids & parents and a boat load of wonderful memories made in NEW YORK CITY.
I'd say our first day of "STAYCATION" was a true success!
