I had the fun & exciting opportunity to take my kids to the Mystic Aquarium today. My friend Kelly was brave enough to come along for an extra set of eyes and ears...and to check out the aquarium herself. The drive was not to bad, though it is an hour and a half from where we live in Connecticut. Our kids were anxious to get there, get out and start exploring. After purchasing a pair of sweat pants for the little guy from an adorable "nearby" boutique...(you would think that I would know better and pack a bag of extra clothes for the 2 year old for pee pee accidents), we parked and were on our way into the aquarium!
Thanks to Mystic Aquarium (we were given two adult tickets for admission to do this feature), we were able to experience the aquarium on a day that wasn't SUPER busy, so we could enjoy all the animal exhibits to their fullest!
My kids loved the Beluga Whales. There is something so peaceful about watching them swim around!
The indoor exhibit, full of fish tanks, frogs, sharks, jellyfish and more...intrigued my kids and they absolutely loved the touching tank (where they could meet some sea creatures up close and personal). I loved too, that they encouraged the parents to watch their children closely and for the children to keep the animals submerged in the water...for their protection!
We loved watching the Seals swim around and play in their pool!
Of course, my 7 year old was super excited to see the Penguin exhibit! Penguins are her favorite animal! When we first walked up, they almost looked "fake", but after standing there for a few minutes, they became interactive and super adorable. I was looking to see if any of them had "HAPPY FEET"...but I guess that one must have been sleeping! Just kidding!
Our entire experience at the Mystic Aquarium was fun & exciting for the kids. We all had a blast checking it out and will definitely go back for more fun in the future!
The day, however, would not be complete without a lunch at "Mystic Pizza"...yes, like the movie! It was yummy and though I had to make 8 trips to the bathroom (literally), mainly because my son was intrigued by it al, we made the best of it. We indulged in pizza and the kids were tuckered out with full bellies for our drive back home!
Today was a fabulous day!
A HUGE thanks to Mystic Aquarium for allowing us to visit with their Sea Critter friends and helping our "SPRING BREAK" Staycation be as interactive and enjoyable as possible!
I was not paid to feature this post! I was compensated by two adult tickets to the aquarium. I still had to pay for my four children to get into the aquarium!
