This week, Madonna's celebrating the ten year anniversary of "American Life," lifted from the soundtrack to The Next Best Thing. Madonna starred in the movie alongside Rupert Everett and the soundtrack included music from Manu Chao, Christina Aguilera, Moby and Groove Armada. Madonna also recorded the new track "Time Stood Still" together with William Orbit as an original song.
The Next Best Thing soundtrack peaked at No.34 on the Billboard 200. While "American Life" was a No.1 hit around the world it only managed to reach No.29 on the Billboard Hot 100. One of the key reasons was that radio didn't pick it up. Later in 2000, Madonna returned to the charts with Music.
